Guatemala Natural Process Coffee - Blue Ayarza is from the Ayarza Cherry Mill. The Ayarza cherry mill specializes in naturally processed Guatemalan coffee. The region of Ayarza is special because of the unique landscape and cold blue water from the Laguna de Ayarza. The lake was formed by two volcanoes that collapsed and formed a large crater. Our Guatemala Blue Natural is sourced from the Santa Rosa Department of Guatemala near the border of El Salvador and Honduras, the land provides rich, luscious soil that is naturally perfect for growing some of the most sublime coffee you will ever taste.
Guatemala Blue Natural coffee gets its name from the nearby lake, Laguna de Ayarza (Lake Ayarza), which is also known locally as Blue Lake due to its natural beauty. The lake was formed nearly 20,000 years ago by volcanic activity, further enriching the soil around the area to provide wonderful nutrients for the coffee to feed on.
According to legend, Lake Ayarza has a more phantasmagoric origin, with an unknown depth in which no one has ever been able to find the bottom of the lake. While others have stated that expeditions to wade through the depths of the lake have led to mysterious disappearances. What we do know, though, about the Lake Ayarza region is that it is fairly remote, with very few man-made edifices within it, and the lake has retained its natural beauty for centuries.
