How to Make a French Press

We recommend using spring water when brewing your coffee as this will render the best cup of coffee. We also recommend grinding your coffee right before brewing to ensure maximum freshness.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • French Press Brewer (8 Cups)

  • Grinder
  • 56G (8 Tablespoons)
  • 205 degrees water
  • Wooden spoon to stir
  • Scale
  • Timer
  • Mug
  • Ratio of 1:15 coffee-to-water
  1. Begin by warming up your French Press by rinsing it with hot water. This helps the coffee extract well during brewing.
  2. Measure out 56 grams (8 tablespoons) of coffee and grind it a coarse grind (breadcrumb consistency).
  3. Empty the hot water from your French Press now that it is warmed up and add your coffee to the French Press. Begin your timer as soon as your water hits the coffee and fill it halfway to saturate all the grounds, leaving no dry spots.
  4. At 1 minute on your timer, use your wooden spoon to break the crust (top layer) and stir well.
  5. Finish filling the rest of your French Press with water to the top and allow the coffee to brew on its own with the top placed on top (without the plunger pressed down).
  6. At the 4-minute mark, push the press all the way down.
  7. Immediately serve to avoid over extraction (coffee will become bitter if left to sit).
