Ethiopia: Clean Water for a Fresh Start — Two Spring Protection Projects Completed

At Volcanica Coffee, we believe that every great coffee begins with clean water — not just in the cup, but at the source. Thanks to your support, we’re proud to announce the completion of two new spring protection sites in Ethiopia, providing safe, reliable water to 403 people.

Protecting Springs, Protecting Lives

In partnership with The International Rescue Committee, we funded the construction of two spring protection systems in the communities of Hanafa and Badi Baro, Ethiopia. These projects were completed in November 2024 and now deliver clean, protected water to 201 people in Hanafa and 202 in Badi Baro.

Spring protection systems safeguard natural water sources from contamination — enclosing the spring to prevent pollution from animals, debris, or human activity. The result is a sustainable, low-maintenance, and long-term solution that ensures access to safe drinking water for generations to come.
