Should coffee beans be stored in the freezer?

Posted by Buck in Coffee Q&A

freeze coffee

Question from a customer:

I eagerly await my Peaberry Coffee beans….I’m “addicted” to them…!!!  Is it O.K. to keep my “extra” unopened bag of beans in the freezer????I have heard yes and no…What’s your opinion???

Answer:

Thanks for your question. Yes we recommend that you keep your unopened bags of coffee beans in the freezer. That has much better preservation than at room temperature. We do not recommend that you store them in the refrigerator because the moisture will deteriorate the coffee at a faster rate.
